The New Year is for Cashmere! (+ a Pomegranate Inc. discount)

Welcome to 2017, babes! How’s it going? It’s taking me a hot minute to get back into it. After traveling for 2 weeks, coming back to reality and responsibilities is kind of kicking my ass. Going into the first full week of the year, I’m trying really hard to apply the 5 things I wrote about in my last post that can set us up for success in the new year. They really are so simple. My favorite tips are to get moving & finding something inspirational. I am going to work out tonight + have been catching up on my favorite podcasts all day.
Another thing I did was take 1 extra day off to focus on me and play catch up. I had a dr appt, did some unpacking, caught up on some emails, and did a few other things for the blog. The break was great but one day at home, with Calvin in daycare (which he was SO HAPPY to return to) is just what the doctor and mental health gods ordered. I wrote about my advocacy for personal days here.

In other, fashion related news – I am so excited to share this slate blue, cashmere, Zoe Fringe sweater from Pomegrante Inc – an adorable online boutique out of Lexington, Ky!
I am ALLLL about deals, discounts, and cheap buys – you know this – but have you ever owned and wore a real cashmere sweater? GAME CHANGER. Such high quality, comfort, and a piece you can wear over and over because of…well, the high quality of the material.

This fringe is amazing and it is also available in blush, natural, grey and black (you know how I feel about neutrals) but I decided to mix it up with SLATE BLUE because it looked very “January” to me. In a good way!

The sweater is currently 25% off and with my discount code RUNNINGWITHSTROLLERS – you can get an additional 30% off anything on the site! That’s 55% off all their cashmere sweaters.
Some of my other favorites are…
The Catharine
The Anorak
The Piper
My Shoes – only 24.99!
My Purse – currently available in WINE & TAN

So – now I’m spoiled and cashmere sweaters are one of my go-to’s for the 2017 winter seasons.Seriously, a must have! Us mamas deserve nice thing every once and a while too! What pieces are you loving for January 2017? kaylasignature-06

5 Easy Ways to Set Yourself up For Success in 2017

The holidays have come and gone in what feels like a huge blur – it was an awesome time with family, time off work, and seeing the bright lights of the season through my babies’ eyes for the first time. This time of the year is stressful yet fulfilling, chaotic yet relaxing – and usually positioned as the biggest climax of the fiscal year.
And then…
JANUARY.
I don’t know about you all but I feel like January is the least exciting, roughest month of the year. We are back from holiday “break” and responsibilities of life start to set in big time. In the midwest, it’s always when it starts to get brutally cold, gray, and there’s really not much going on.
It’s also a time where expectations are high…aren’t we supposed to have huge resolutions and lose like 10 lbs in this month? It’s seriously overwhelming and such an anxiety ridden start to the new year you are supposed to OWN.

I have gathered here 5 small steps you can take to make it all seem less daunting – and allow you to kill it in the new year.
1.) Write down your goals
I have wrote about this topic when I hit 1 year of blogging and how it helped me, but I need to reiterate it again. Take 5 minutes, grab a journal and write down 5-10 small things you want to accomplish this year. It can be within your career, your family, your side hustle, your blogging/social media goal, your health. Just get it on paper, and make them specific! For example: don’t write “I want my blog to grow.” Write, “I WILL increase my following by 500 on X platform and post at least 2 times/week.” I’m no analyst, but pretty sure it’s scientifically proven that you’re more willing to stick to goals when you get them physically written down. By doing this, you are also putting into the universe that you want opportunities to come your way.

img_1435

2.) Get moving!
Going to the gym after eating your body weight in Christmas cookies, candy and holiday ham is THE. WORST. Like on the level of vom – but you HAVE to get moving! The hardest part is getting dressed and going. Start small and work your way up. Just do a few minutes, if necessary. I went for the first time this week after about a week off and just did some cardio & abs to get myself moving again. Once the junk is out of your system you can increase intensity and set your gym goal for 2017 in which you will write down with the rest of your goals. See where I’m going with this?
3.) Determine the next big event to look forward to
This is so key for me. I am a big advocate of having things to look forward to. Not that I don’t look forward to every day with my babes but after Christmas, Hanukah, NYE is over, find another big event in the NEAR future to look forward to or prepare for. For example, my birthday is 2/4 and Calvin’s 1st birthday is 2/18 – 2 events that I will look forward to and get excited about!

4.) Find something that inspires you
What inspires you or keeps you going? It is a book, a podcast, a friend, a child? For me, taking action is what inspires me to keep going. I want to grow my blog because it is my favorite thing I do for ME – if I don’t write for a few days, have an idea brewing, or post something, I honestly get anxious (what am I doing with my life?) and antsy. That’s how I know I should keep going. Maybe action is uncomfortable for you but you get inspiration by reading from your favorite author or listening to a podcast on your commute – keep doing those things.

5.) Buy or do one small thing that makes you happy
Alright – materialistic Kayla is coming out. I’m not saying you have to go get a $150 massage or buy a new Michael Kors purse – but go do something small or buy something small that will make you happy. I know we just got holiday gifts but let’s be honest – the holidays are all about the kids now. Go buy something you maybe didn’t get and enjoy it. For example, a new coffee/tea mug, a pair of warm gloves or a comfy blanket for relaxing at home. Maybe you should go get that hair trim or color that you’ve been putting off due to little time. Tell your significant other that getting out for an hour or two would help you and go do what you want. It’s the little things, ya’ll.

2016 Best Wrap Coat Round-Up!

Hey hey all!!! How are we hanging in before the holidays!? 12/22 is my last day of work until I am off until January – so excited! But this day has arrived so. slowly. Can’t wait for a few days off with my family. I explained why in this instagram post.
We got our holiday pics done earlier this month with my gal Henrietta of The Real HB Media and I wore my favorite holiday red wrap coat. I bought this coat last December when I was in desperate need of a winter coat and knew that since you can wrap it to any size, it would fit this year as well. Wrap coats are honestly the best – so flattering, and great for any size (pregnant, postpartum, no kids, etc.)
I first posted about this coat and linked my favorite wrap coats of 2015 here. So now I bring you…..my favorite wrap coats of 2016 below!

The ‘merlot’ colored coat I am wearing above is actually Vera Wang (but last season) so here is the look alike:

As it gets colder and colder outside, these warm coats come in handy -and like I mentioned I really feel you can re-wear from year to year. Such a key piece to invest in! Which one is your favorite? Where is your favorite place to purchase pretty winter coats?
Happy Holidays in advance my loves!

The 10 Best Diaper Bags for the “Cool Mom”

Hi Friends!! How’s it going? How are we feeling about the holidays? #Stressed? #Blessed? Have you made a list of what you’d like? The concept of asking for gifts gets stranger to me the older I get. Like, if I want something, I probably can’t wait till Christmas and I will most likely just buy it for myself at some other time in the year. I’m not saying that to come off like I can buy anything I want, but more to say I have no self control when I really want something, LOL!
My mom usually likes to get us one “big” gift for Christmas like a nice purse, a pair of boots, a new watch…basically it’s usually an accessory that is our one larger or more expensive gift. I’ll never forget the year that I needed a new CHI hair straightener but my little sister got one instead – I got really mad because I was selfish little jerk and these are the types of things sisters fight over. Am I right? Fortunately, I’ve grown out of this stage and know that gifts are truly one of the least important parts of the holidays at this point in my life.
When trying to think about the ONE gift I’d really want to ask for, I was actually having a lot of trouble, and still am! Normally I would have no problem adding like 10 purses to a wish list, but now it just seems silly to ask for that when 99% of the time I’m either at work or out with the baby – aka trying to minimize my bags and consolidate. When we go out on the weekends, I always throw my personal belongings in the diaper bag and hardly end up using a purse. Things you don’t think about before you have a baby. I first wrote about this here.
Alas, I’ve rounded up the best, most stylish diaper bags for you babes. Very KEY to remaining a cool mom. I have the first two and switch between them often! I think these are all great gift ideas for your own wish list, or for the “cool mom” in your life (yes I’m calling myself cool.)

More Neutrals [with CupShe] + Options to Accessorize!

Hi Friends – I can’t believe this is the first time I’m posting this month. Let’s just say it’s been a crazy December and I’m just trying to make it through 2016 in one piece 🙂 Although this is one of the best times of year, it can also be the most stressful! Who else is with me?
I’m excited to finally share this shirt from CUPSHE – my newest fave online shop I just recently ordered from for the first time. Their items can only be found online and are super super affordable if you’re looking to mix it up! Also- I was actually blown away by the quality of the items I purchased!
This black, brown and white top is so ME – that sounds so cheesy but it’s true! Anyone who knows me would agree. I’ve mentioned before that I love any piece of clothing or accessory that I can mix with black and brown, so I had to have this shirt. It was only 23.99 and can be found here.

Mama Bear Sweatshirt & Baby Onesie Giveaway (with Frank Regards)

Guyssss it’s officially the best & weirdest time of the year….those 3-4ish work weeks post-Thanksgiving and pre-Christmas that pretty much test your motivation levels on a consistent basis. It’s that feeling of “I have so.much.shit.to do” mixed with “gimme all the Peppermint Mochas and let me just shop for the ones I love from my comfy couch.”

Frank Regards is tempting me with the latter as they offer the cutest, affordable, high quality items & gifts – this partnership just has me feeling in the holiday spirit big time! Every product is designed in house, geared toward that millennial women consumer – and is done so with a bit of humor thrown in the mix!
The product offerings include coffee mugs, wine bags, sweatshirts, baby onesies, tote bags, dish towels and greeting cards. Perfect for gifting or for stocking stuffers, and are different than the more common gifts you would find at a larger retailer.
I was lucky enough to receive both the ‘Mama Bear’ sweatshirt and the baby Buffalo Plaid onesie to try for Calvin and I – we love them so much! Right away I was amazed by how well they fit both of us, and how soft/high quality the material was on both of the items!
img_1038-1I was also very impressed with…
The design quality
The words/images are not a vinyl imprint [which is very typical of start-ups trying to produce items for a lower cost] but can become non-permanent. The items from Frank Regards are screen printed to ensure the best possible quality and allow for multiple washes without seeing the words start to peel off. You all know what I’m talking about 🙂
Sizing & Length of the items
Both the sweatshirt and onesie fit us like a glove! I was worried a women’s fit medium would be too small for how I like my sweatshirts to fit, but it was perfect and long enough in length for bending down, picking up, and chasing after Calvin! He got the 6-12mo onesie and is fitting him just like the other 12mo onesies he owns. If you are questioning size, you should go up so that your babe can wear this adorable onesie as long as possible!
Feel/Softness
You guys know by this point that I am ALL about comfort – and that’s exactly what I got with these pieces! I know in about 2 seconds after putting on an article of clothing if it is going to be uncomfortable but these items are so so soft. I am actually wearing the sweatshirt as I type this and will probably keep on for bed! Cal played in his onesie all day so I know he was comfy too 🙂
Now for the part you all came here for… the giveaway!
I will be giving away one ‘mama bear’ sweatshirt to a very lucky reader – and you can only enter through my blog! If you’d like to win, (1) leave me a comment below and (2) enter your email at the bottom of the page to follow RwS (you will only get notifications for new posts – which you don’t want to miss anyways!)

I am also giving away ONE Buffalo Plaid Onesie – the option to recieve a floral onesie is also available if you’d like for a baby girl!

As you can tell, Ashley @ Frank Regards (thank you for sponsoring this post!) really hooked it up for my readers – don’t forget to check them out on:

{Month Nine} + The Stranger Danger Phase

This little scrunchy nose guy is officially 9 months! I remember feeling like I saw the most changes at 2 months, 6 months, and now 9 months FOR SURE. The biggest being his increase in mobility …he is everywhere! We’ve already gotten a few calls from daycare that he has fell, scratched himself, etc. They said this is normal as he is getting into everything – I can barely keep up with him on a 1on1 basis, I don’t know how daycare can watch his every move. Gives this mama anxiety….
The other difference we noticed this month was the “stranger danger” phase. He can now tell who has him and shows preference as to who is holding him or in the same room as him. I got an email from baby center titled,” Your 9 month old: Week 1″ and this description could not be any more true:
“Your baby may be charmingly sociable – until someone other than you comes near. Many babies this age show signs of fear or shyness around other people, bursting into tears around someone new – or even a familiar relative! It’s a normal part of development as your baby learns to tell the difference between strangers and friends. Your baby may also have separation anxiety, fussing and crying whenever you leave his side. He knows you’re important, and doesn’t yet understand that when you leave, you’ll always come back.”
Because we live away from family, we didn’t really notice this was happening until we went to visit. It alarmed us because our easy going, play with anyone, let anyone hold him, baby, was not a screaming, fussing baby, throwing temper tantrums if the wrong person had him at the wrong time. It’s good to know that this is 100% normal and hopefully it will ease up with time.

New things that Calvin strongly dislikes:
  • Getting out of the bathtub
  • Playing nicely in his pack ‘n play for more than 5 minutes
  • Laying on his changing table
  • Getting dressed – every single time I have to change him I think of this meme:
Image result for getting baby dressed meme
New things that Calvin loves:
  • Eating puffs – both the grain snacks and yogurt tabs
  • Touching things he shouldn’t touch/crawling where he shouldn’t crawl
  • A fascination with windows
  • When we kiss or pretend to kiss his hands
  • Crawling everywhere!
Stats:
  • ~ 22 lbs (73%)
  • ~29 in long (76%)
  • Head circumference 47cm (93%) – he’s a smart cookie 🙂
  • Got his flu shot with no problems!
Who else has a babe around the same age? Are you experiencing some of the same changes? It’s so hard to keep up, they grow so fast!
We love you all – thanks for stopping by to catch up on Baby Calvin’s life!

Things Moms Love: Target & Nutrition for their Babies (feat. Gerber Cereals)

If I know anything about motherhood, I know there are 2 things moms love: great nutrition for their baby & trips to TARGET. Who’s with me?
I honestly didn’t realize why Moms were so obsessed with going to Target, until one rainy Sunday night a few weeks ago. It had been a long day, cooped up inside and I needed to get out, walk around, be by myself, and just…go somewhere. So I headed to Target solo for that alone time and wandered the aisles. And guess what, after buying m&ms and a new fall candle I actually did feel better 😅 I’m convinced 99% of the people who shop at Target are Moms…and for good reason.
1.) You can find anything and everything at Target – aka one stop shopping, the only way to do it!
and
2.) You can save with digital offers on the cartwheel app – I saved over  $14 in one trip this weekend, which doesn’t sound like a ton, but anything helps when buying baby items is so expensive!
Because of these, I recently started buying most of our baby “stuff” at Target – including the Gerber cereals that we have been feeding Calvin at least once every day for the past 3 months.
*Save 10% here on Gerber Cereals at Target through the Cartwheel App*

We made a trip yesterday so I could use this offer myself and pick up more cereal & necessities before the busy week.

Why do we use and trust Gerber for Calvin’s nutrition?
First off, Calvin loves this cereal and he has since day 1, so anything that is Calvin approved, we are a big fan of! When I was breastfeeding full time, I added breast milk to the cereal for the perfect concoction. Now that I have cut back, I mix the Gerber Cereal and one scoop of formula with water, and he loves it just as much. I love that you can do either. We mix it up between the Rice Cereal, MultiGrain Cereal, and Oatmeal Cereal at dinner each day, and also along with breakfast on the weekends.
The Health Benefits of Gerber Cereals:
• Have iron to help support learning abilities
• 2 servings of Gerber Cereal a day has 90% of a baby’s daily value of Iron.
• Are made with calcium to help build healthy bones and teeth
• Delivers a nutritional blend of Zinc, Calcium, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and six B Vitamins thanks to Gerber’s VitaBlocks for healthy growth.
• Non-GMO: not made with genetically engineered ingredients**
• No artificial colors or flavors**
**so key in my mama book!!!
This offer is good on Gerber Cereals now through 11/26. Just clip the offer digitally, pick up your cereals and save! So easy and efficient, since I know we will all be at the store shopping for Thanksgiving and eventually Black Friday this week.
Speaking of, I hope everyone has an amazing holiday with family and friends. I am thankful for every one of you!
Here’s to more trips to Target and making sure our babes get the best nutrition they possibly can. Oh, and saving $$$ while at it!

A Day in the Life: Balancing Business Blogging & Baby

Hello, Friends! Can you believe that this was the last full week before Thanksgiving?! This has been THE FASTEST year.
PS – I got a notification today that another one of my blog posts was published today on Elite Daily here! The original article all about the “5th Trimester” can be found here and is still one of my favorite posts I’ve written to date.
We went home this past weekend for my sisters wedding (which was amazing BTW) and I had so many questions and comments about my blog! It makes me happy because I know that people are reading and engaged with my writing.
Two of the most common questions were: when do you blog and how do you have time to blog? Or comments of “I don’t know how you do it.” There were also comments saying that I must be spending a lot of time on it. Which is true, but I have to be very strategic about when I can work on this, and yes, I wish I could do way more. Craig says I spend more time working on the blog than I think.
I decided I’ll write about a day in the life of a working, blogging, Mom for some perspective – I know so many working Moms can relate so I’d love to hear from you on how you balance it all as well!
img_3475-1
I’ll start at midnight so we can include the entire day. Pretty much every week day is the same routine:
  • Sometime between 1am and 3am: Calvin is not consistent about sleeping through the night even at 9 months, so once a night, Calvin usually wakes up whining in his crib. Craig is on this time of night duty so he will go in to rock him back to sleep if he doesn’t go back to sleep on his own. I don’t feed him during the night anymore.
  • Sometime between 5am and 6am – Cal wakes up again. At this odd time of the morning, I don’t have the time or patience to rock him back to sleep. If it’s earlier than 6am, I grab him and lay with him in our bed with me so I can get just a bit more sleep. He will almost always snuggle back up and sleep for a bit longer.
  • 630-730am: wake up and feed Calvin (I am still breastfeeding in the mornings and evenings) then we “talk and play” for a bit.
  • 730-830am: Get myself ready for work while entertaining a baby. Calvin plays & rolls around in his pack ‘n play, I pack my lunch, coffee and english muffin with peanut butter while Calvin stares at me sitting on the kitchen floor, get Calvin changed & dressed while he screams because he doesn’t want me to lay him on his changing table.
  • 8-830: I leave for work, Craig finishes getting Calvin ready and takes him to daycare. My commute is 30 min.
  • 830ish-530ish: Work work work work work – meetings, calls, project work, emails, and more meetings.
  • 6-630pm: Get home from work. Craig has usually already picked up Calvin and they are both waiting for me at home.
  • 615-630pm: Feed Calvin dinner (1 jar beech-nut baby food & gerber rice cereal or oatmeal) while the other starts dinner.
  • 630-730pm: Play with Calvin/Eat Dinner
  • 730-8: Bedtime routine: bath, pajamas, books
  • 8pm: Feed Calvin then let him lay with me for cuddle time for at least half hour.
  • 8-830pm: Craig takes Calvin and puts him in his crib.
  • 830-? pm: “Personal” time – this is usually when I do all of my blogging/social media work. The end time is “?” because sometimes I am too tired to do anything and sometimes I am up until midnight.
I am committed to continuing my blog, with some other long term goals in mind as well. At this point, I’m definitely feeling like something always has to be given up in order to balance business, blog & baby – at this time in my life, usually it is sleep or exercise! I know, I know, I’m working on it.

img_3474

You can probably tell by this schedule that I need efficiency – I need things to be quick, simple and easy for me to fit everything into my day. No time for BS. I was actually looking back through some old blog posts and realized pretty much everything I support and write about is related to making my life easier and more efficient. Here are some mom hacks I live by every day!
*I only wash and style my hair once a week – usually on Saturday. The rest of the week I wear it half up, in a pony tail, in a bun, etc to mix it up and make my blowout last. I was #blessed/cursed with very dry hair that allows me to do this. I wrote about “2nd day hairstyles” here – but really they can be used for 3rd, 4th, and 5th day styles too!
*I put on the same makeup every day – watch my 10 minute every day makeup tutorial here
*Microwaveable vegetables & bagged salads – need I say more?
*Draft settings on wordpress, instagram, facebook, outlook, gmail and other social channels are life savers! If you ever see me post something during the week, it’s likely because I took the time the night before or on the weekend to create drafts of social posts/blog posts or emails.
*Crockpot Meals! I wrote about my favorite easy meals here and here.
*The Keurig coffee maker – one quick cup that I can grab & go!
*Flossing in the shower – anyone else?
*Low maintenance hair color – I really love getting a fresh cut & color but it takes such a long time from start to finish that I can only really find time to go about 3-4 times a year. I recently had my stylist take out my blonde that goes all the way up to the roots so that the color can gradually grow out and still look okay. This allows me to go longer between visits.
*Lastly, I have become more and more open about my honesty on when I need help. It’s just natural that a lot of responsibility falls back on Mom, especially when the baby always wants you or you are still breast feeding. Lately I am very open about when I need help on ANYTHING. For example, I really dislike going to the grocery store so Craig will stop on his way home from work. It is one thing off my plate each week.
Who else’s schedule feels just as crazy as this? Moms of multiples, I don’t know how you do it!!! What are your hacks, daily efficiencies, or tips? Would love to hear about how I can cut more corners! LOL
Have a great weekend!!!KaylaSignature-02

Engagement Photos + A Mini Wedding Update

Hi, Friends! Happy Thursday! This one is going to be short & sweet because yesterday’s post was info overload!
We are off to Cincinnati today and have a FIVE day weekend ahead 🙂
We have started to plan the wedding in terms of securing a date and venue, but that’s it for now. We are getting married at The Transcept in Cincinnati on 11.10.17- exactly one year from today! I would say planning is not #1 priority at the moment as my little sister is getting married this weekend and we’ve been focusing so much on work & little Cal of course. Hoping to steal as many wedding tips from her as I can, LOL. I’m the first sister with a baby and the last sister married – keepin’ it classy like that! But for real, I think that the REAL reason people get married before having kids is because there’s not much free time to plan a wedding once you have a child.
I was never the girl who always dreamed of her fantasy wedding, but I am a perfectionist in certain ways and go from 0 to 100 (real quick) when I commit to things. Sooo TBD on if i’ll be chill bride or psycho bride… From here, I am planning on building our wedding timeline with budget & payment details attached.
Married friends:
What should I be doing next?
What would you change about your wedding planning process?
What would you spend more/less money on?
What else should be done at 1 year out?
Here are the photos from our mini engagement session with my photographer Henrietta – she is the bomb and we love how these turned out! Excuse our summer attire – they were taken back in Aug/Sept and I’m just now sharing!

4 Universal Life Lessons I’ve been Taught in One Year of Blogging

I can’t believe it but…
November 9th marks my ONE year anniversary of blogging!
On a random Tuesday in November last year I decided to write a post on pregnancy style and I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into! I had tried a few times in the past to start a tumblr, or other sorts of blogs but never exactly could follow through. I had been seriously thinking about it again for a while and voiced to a few friends that because of so many life changes, I wanted to start a blog.
I spent the following few weeks teaching myself the WordPress platform, wrote just one post, and then hit publish! There are some that say you should be writing for months before marketing your blog and others say just start. I am definitely a believer of the latter – once I get something in my head I have to do it immediately. You can grow and find your voice with your readers. I do not have the patience to overthink or over analyze, so I just went for it (more on this below.)
What was originally kaylagreenstone.com titled Kayla Marie (so creative, huh?) evolved into runningwithstrollers.com as I began to find my niche in writing about motherhood and what comes along with balancing it all. I never had plans or aspirations to become a #momblogger but becoming pregnant and then a mother was my new reality, and I couldn’t help but share it with others.

I may not have the most followers, the most likes, post as often as I would like, or be making thousands of dollars a month – but I stuck to something I believe in (and created) for a whole year and am freaking excited about that.

This first year of blogging has confirmed a few universal life lessons for me and I want to share them here as every day reminders for both myself and others who have dreams & goals of their own.
Stay In Your Own Lane
What I mean by this is that you must stay on your own path, looking forward, and believe it what YOU are doing – or you will likely drift off. In the admittedly over-saturated hobby/profession of blogging, it is very easy to feel like you are getting lost in the crowd. Just when you think that you thought of something first or had the best idea, you come across another blogger who just wrote about the same thing and has 3 time the amount of followers. Thoughts of “why am I even doing this” or “what makes me special?” immediately start to creep in. Should you glance over at what others are doing? Always. Should you join in the community and provide value for others? Definitely. If you keep your eyes set on what YOU are trying to accomplish and believe in it, self doubt will stay in the backseat and you remain in the driver’s seat. The success of others should never make you question yourself. Because guess what? Success doesn’t discriminate against hard work and there is room for everyone to share a piece of the market.

Putting Yourself Out There is The Only way to Get Somewhere
Oh. my. god. I can’t stress this one enough. You have to put yourself out there to get anywhere – you have to take action to see results. The more you do both of these things, the more opportunities you are creating for yourself within the universe. I got accepted to be an Elite Daily Contributor a few months into blogging (which was very cool) but it was because I put myself in front of them and sought out the opportunity. I submitted articles and a few have been featured on the site (which only happened because I actually submitted) – I did not wait for Elite Daily to magically find me because it doesn’t always work that way…in fact I would have been waiting a very long time. One of my favorite podcast episodes EVER is “Adventures with Mike Dooley: The Mechanics of Manifesting” on the Adventures in Happiness Podcast with Jessica Ortner. Honestly, game changer. Mike believes that essentially if you get the ball rolling and keep it rolling, the universe will do the work to put opportunities in front of you. The reason more people don’t put themselves out there is because they are afraid of what others think – so they spend their lives with great ideas kept to themself because they are worried a group of individuals they went to HS with 10 years ago will judge them. If people have an opinion about what you are doing, good for you, because it means you are taking ACTION.

Anything Worth Doing Takes a Consistent Grind
Nothing worth doing happens over night, but ugh, wouldn’t that be awesome if it did? Successful businesses, ideas, blogs, etc, take work. A LOT of work. A lot of CONSISTENT work. If you want something to be successful you have to work at it every day. Would you be successful in your career if you only worked at it once a week? No, and you’d probably be fired. It’s easy to feel like you are doing a lot, when in reality, it’s probably not nearly enough. What are you willing to give up to make your project a reality? Lastly, don’t judge where you are one year into your journey against where someone else is 4 years in…because well, they have been at it 4 times as long as you. Chances are if you were to look back at your life last year at this time, you wouldn’t believe where you are today. Imagine where you could be a year from now with consistent effort toward your goals?

Be Intentional With Your Goals and What you Want
I didn’t necessarily believe in this one until I tried physically writing down what I wanted and then I saw it slowly come true. Back at the beginning of the year, one of my best friends sent me a journal in the mail with the quote “She believed she could so she did” on the front cover (thanks, Shan!) I was feeling inspired so I decided to write down some blog goals for the upcoming year. On the first page one of my goals was to work with 6-8 brands, or on 6-8 sponsored posts in 2016. I honestly don’t even know where those numbers came from, and at that time I had done 0 sponsored posts. 10 months later and I have partnered with 9 brands (Little Tikes, Gerber, FX, Pink Blush x2, The Initial Co x2, JORD Wood Watches, 4moms, Glassesshop.com & Kayello coffee) and have had to turn down a few others. Are these the biggest, most prestigious brands in the world? No, but I was intentional about what I wanted, I put myself out there, and the universe helped me out a bit from there.

So one year in and there is so much more I want to do – one of my biggest goals in 2017 is to do a RwS event or meet-up! Who would come? It’s amazing to look back and see what can be accomplished in just 12 months. I now have a blog that I’ve posted on 67 times, a 9 month old mobile, healthy baby and a fiancé 💙 Here’s to another year of changes, successes, failures and more mom bloggin’ 👶🏻
To the people who have followed and have read any of my posts – I love you ❤️ your support, comments, likes and shares mean more than you know!
